Create a stunning sandy beach—even on unstable, waterlogged shores!
SandMat Max for when shorelines can’t drain properly, they stay unstable and mostly unusable. Such shorelines stay wet most of the time. If you have such a waterfront, you’ll want to use SandMat Max.
SandMat Max is a “souped up” SandMat, providing extra support on soft, spongy shores. It works like a giant snowshoe. SandMat Max includes a geogrid under the SandMat fabric. This extra support firms up shorelines and helps hold sand or topsoils in place.
SandMat Max does everything a SandMat does — plus provides the additional base to support sand on “mushy” shorelines that are “always wet” and don’t drain properly.
SandMat Max is a reinforced geotextile fabric combined with a rugged geogrid, designed for soft, spongy, and wet shorelines. It provides extra stability, prevents erosion, and keeps sand or topsoil from sinking into unstable ground.
An on-land, unframed mat placed beneath sand or topsoil. SandMat Max spreads weight evenly, improves drainage, and creates a stable, firm beach even on constantly wet, mushy shorelines.
Stops sand from sinking, stabilizes soft shorelines, and gives you the beach you’ve always wanted—even on the muddiest ground!

Keep Sand in Place, Even on Soft Shores
Create a Stable, weed-free Sandy Beach
Easy & quick — simply place sand on top
SandMat Max owner
"Our shoreline was always wet and unstable, making it impossible to keep sand in place. SandMat Max completely changed that"
SandMat Max Owner
"I was skeptical at first, but SandMat Max works exactly as promised. Our beach used to be a muddy mess, and any sand we added would just disappear. With SandMat Max, the sand stays put, and the shore feels solid and stable. "
SandMat Max owner
"We struggled for years with a waterlogged shoreline that never felt like a real beach. SandMat Max gave us the perfect fix"
SandMat Max™ sandwiches a layer of geogrid and geotextile fabric designed to hold sand and other types of soils firmly in place — above the wet area.
Together they form thousands of small pockets that hold sand (or other soil), locking it firmly in place. You now have a solid shore that drains properly.
Using SandMat Max™ allows you to raise soil enough to create an area that drains properly — yet remains solid on top.
For a sandy beach, cover SandMat Max™ with at least five inches of “washed” or “mortar” sand, they’re the same thing. (Unwashed sand makes dirty mud when it’s wet).
For low spots in lawns, cover SandMat Max™ with fill dirt and topsoil, then plant grass seed or lay sod.
Should you use a SandMat or SandMat Max?
SandMat
If the area where you want your sandy beach is firm enough to walk on, all you need is a SandMat.
SandMat Max
If the area is so spongy your feet sink when you walk on it, or your mower tires sink in when you mow, you’ll want the SandMat Max.
If you’re not sure, a SandMat Max can be used on either spongy or firm soil.
SandMat Max — It has more uses than just beaches
Because SandMat material allows water to pass through it at a rate of 90 gallons per minute, yet prevents soil particles from moving through it.
Trail
Many camps and parks use SandMat Max material as a base covered with gravel, or wood chips. The fabric keeps wet, soggy soil below separated from the gravel or wood chips on top.
SandMat & SandMat Max are meant for use on shore — NOT in water.
These materials are made for water — but because they’re frameless, there’s no good way to keep them in place underwater without a frame.

Our fabric is tough. But how tough is tough?
An extreme, 12-year experiment shows just how tough they are.
A nonwoven geotextile was used as a base to create access roads for gas exploration along the Texas Gulf Coast.
The fabric was rolled out and then covered with crushed limestone with a maximum size of 2.5 inches — sharp, jagged, limestone rocks — nothing you’d want to walk on barefoot. The crushed stone was spread out using 33,000-pound bulldozers — immense weight dragging rough stones across the fabric.
For 12 years, big trucks, oil drilling rigs and other heavy equipment drove over it regularly. Eventually, the road was dismantled (using the same giant bulldozers) and the fabric was retrieved and tested. After all that wear and tear — over 12 years — this geotextile had degraded by just 5 percent.
That’s incredible!
And that same, incredible fabric is what our Mats are made of!
Transform your shore into a dazzling, relaxing place to share with family and friends.
Preserve your shoreline
