Why Cutting and Chemicals Don’t Work
It’s All in the Roots
Lily pads are so tough to get rid of because of their root system.
They grow from thick underground stems called rhizomes that spread across the lake bottom, twisting and branching in every direction. Trying to cut or dig them out is messy, time-consuming, and nearly impossible to fully remove. Miss even a small section, and new shoots come right back — often from roots as thick as your arm.
That’s why cutting and chemicals don’t actually solve the problem.
Cutting only removes what you see above the surface. The roots stay intact and quickly send up new growth. Herbicides can suppress lilies, but they’re expensive, often require permits, and need to be reapplied year after year. It turns into ongoing maintenance — not a real fix.

What is our Lily Hammer made of?
Lightweight, High-Flow Geotextile Fabric
LilyHammer uses a durable, non-woven polypropylene fabric that blocks sunlight and shuts down photosynthesis — cutting off lilies off at the root.
Unlike cheap landscape fabrics and plastics, its built for water. It allows flow-through while preventing growth underneath.
Fabulous Frames
Our frames are made of cold-rolled, “aluminized-steel,” tubing. Cold-rolled steel is far stronger than regular steel.
It’s then bonded to molten aluminum — giving our frames a combination of properties possessed by neither steel nor aluminum alone; both corrosion-resistance and strength.
